Blackheads are dark looking pimples on the skin and look like very fine moles. Blackheads are one of the most common manifestations of Acne vulgaris , affecting youth as a result of obstruction and inflammation of pilosebaceous units,and is thought to be caused by multiple factors


Blackheads are actaully the clogged up sebaceous glands  in the skin due to excess oil in the ducts. keratin and sebum clogs up the sebaceous glands .

Blackheads are an aesthetic problem and people around the world are always in search  for effective ways to get rid of it. Blackhead are removed by cleansing and exfoliation in one way or another.

Blackheads Herbal Remedies

Lemon juice, beaten egg white, tomato pieces, almond oil and even toothpaste are applied on blackheads . After necessary peeling  the skin is rinsed with warm water.

Blackhead Removing Pore Strips

Another effective method to remove blackheads is using pore strips. Though strips offer better results, they fail to prevent recurrence.

Clay Masks

Clay masks are also used for exfoliation. However for effective result, regular application is required. The abrasive material in the mask cleanses and exfoliates the skin.

Baking soda is a chemical easily and often available at home and can prove effective to exfoliate the skin.

Glycolic Acid and Salicyclic Acid

Another method of getting rid of blackheads is using exfoliating chemicals e.g. Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid. These exfoliating agents are more effective in combination. These agents cleanse clogged pores by chemically attracting lipids in the sebaceous oils. Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid also clean debris and dead skin cells.


Retinoids are Vitamin A derivative chemicals and effective exfoliating agents .However the treatment requires frequent application over a period of four to six weeks#
